The intention of this CPL Scouting Database series is to present undervalued and underrated players from leagues across the world that could be valuable options for Canadian Premier League teams, or higher levels of play in North America. The players featured here include:
- CPL players that are among the best in their position/role within the league.
- Players across leagues from every continent that would comfortably be one of the best in their position/role in the CPL.
All players featured here have been screened through an intensive data and video analysis process, often times through the culminating work of three TMS scouts. Our data analysis primarily includes players with the following criteria:
- Under the age of 27, with a market value below $600k (the standard currency for market values is listed as €400K and below, so we have converted it to CAD$).
- Specific data criteria used to screen players in each role/position based on our player roles.
- Contract expiry dates typically between now and 2024. Some CPL or Canadian-born players featured have longer contracts, but have been included due to their fit for the clubs in question.

Benjamin Šeško is United’s best striker in years
With four goals in his last five matches, Šeško earned himself the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for February. This, in just 85 minutes of making an impact off the bench. If he can continue to grow from here, the 22-year-old will almost certainly stake his claim as United’s best striker in years.
Michael Carrick has given Manchester United their joy back
At the time of Ruben Amorim’s shock sacking, Manchester United sat sixth in the table. There were signs of hope and progress, but also much in the way of disappointment and misalignment. Since Carrick entered the frame at Old Trafford, the Red Devils have won four in a row, closing the gap on City in…
Why Hugo Ekitiké has worked when so many big money signings have flopped
Every summer, Premier League clubs spend £80m–£100m chasing the next superstar forward. Every season, the league humbles them. But Hugo Ekitiké has been the exception. Ten goals, instant adaptation, and a playing style that personifies Liverpool’s identity. Here is why he’s worked when so many other big-money signings have stalled.
Casemiro is leaving, and United still can’t replace him
Casemiro’s been one of the best players in each of Carrick’s matches in charge. In fact, he’s been almost too good. Sunday’s match against Fulham exposed exactly what United will miss when he departs, and why he might be someone they simply can’t afford to lose, even if they must.
At home to Fulham, Casemiro…
Who should replace Casemiro at Manchester United?
There are exits that feel like endings, and endings that feel like reckonings. Casemiro’s Instagram announcement this week — confirming he’ll leave Manchester United at the end of the season — is both.
It’s the departure of their most experienced leader, and at the same time, a clear willingness from United to move on…
United’s attacking depth the difference against Arsenal
Manchester United may have been second-best for long stretches against Arsenal, but the match ultimately exposed a growing truth about Carrick’s team: they can score from anywhere, at any moment, through anyone. While Arsenal controlled the possession, United’s depth in attack – spread across the squad rather than one star, proved decisive. In a season…
