September has been a fantastic month as always in the worlds of Reality TV and Football. Miralem Pjanic has taken to his new side quickly and has hit the ground running with several fantastic performances in September. In six matches so far, the central midfielder has netted 2 goals so far and has added a further two assists. He’s made the Serie A Team of the Month and also has risen up the ranks in the Top 100 Footballers In The World At This Very Moment 2016-17 list.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have had a stunning month and one of the key figures to their resilience has been Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian midfielder has scored three goals with two assists in 6 matches so far this season and the tip of the iceberg of his fantastic performances this season was in Liverpool’s 5-1 win against Hull.
Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola
Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, formerly of Spanish rivals Real Madrid and FC Barcelona respectively, met for the first time in the Premier League with Pep’s side coming out on top once again. Guardiola put in a tactical masterclass as Kevin de Bruyne ran the show as Manchester United slumped to a narrow defeat.
Arkadiusz Milik came in to Napoli as Gonzalo Higuain’s replacement, given the task of filling massive boots at the club. But he has taken to the task amazingly well and has already netted 4 goals in 6 Serie A matches and even better, 3 goals in 2 UEFA Champions League matches. The Polish striker just can’t stop scoring at the moment and is seriously on the rise.
Australian Survivor’s first ever individual immunity challenge was a highly creative one as contestants had to hang upside down from a pole and hang on for dear life. Brooke Jowett defied expectations by hardly ever using her hands the entire challenge, hanging upside down using her feet for an hour and fifteen minutes to take the immunity necklace.
In a classic Survivor challenge that is becoming one of the most-used challenges on the show ever, Sam carried 24 kilograms around himself, practically dragged his compatriot, Lee Carseldine (carrying 18 kilograms), through the water before catching the other tribe and winning immunity for his challenge.
Alexis Sanchez is finally working out as the centre forward that Arsene Wenger has been craving these past few years and had a brilliant month of action in September. Sanchez’s goal return has been brilliant in 2016-17 so far, scoring 4 goals in 6 matches, and in the month of September, he’s scored or assisted at least one time in four out of the five matches that Arsenal have played in.
Paul Pogba and Jessie Lingard
Paul Pogba was already beginning to receive criticism for a few of his below-par performances at Manchester United until he silenced his critics in the Red Devils’ massive 4-1 win against champions Leicester City.
Heung-Min Son was a bit of a non-factor in Spurs’ set up last season but since the start of September he has stolen a spot away from Erik Lamela in the side and has gone on to score the same amount of goals this month (4) that he managed all of last season. The South Korean international has been brilliant this month and his performances have now surely solidified his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side for the rest of the season.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marc Bartra
Borussia Dortmund have been absolutely flying this month and one of the key men in their side as ever has been Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The striker from Gabon nearly missed out on the Bundesliga’s Golden Boot last year after scoring 25 goals to Lewandowski’s 30, and is putting all of the pressure on the Polish striker again, scoring 5 goals in 4 matches as the race for top scorer is on.
In another classic Australian Survivor challenge, every contestant was involved and utilized in a different way, most notably Kylie Evans who was given the task of avoiding swinging sandbags and connecting five coconuts in a row for her tribe. In a hilariously creative Australian Survivor reward challenge, contestants were given the task of getting dirty to get clean. The Aussies had to gather up as much mud from a puddle as they possibly could before having it scraped off their bodies into a pigpen. The contestants took to the task with tremendous enthusiasm and became so muddy that Jonathan LaPaglia, host of the show, struggled to narrate what was going on because he couldn’t tell who was who. Ironically, the reward for this challenge was a day at the spa so just like Jonathan said, contestants had to get dirty to get clean.
Kevin de Bruyne
As previously mentioned, Pep Guardiola had a tactical masterclass of a performance in City’s 2-1 win over United and the key man that exemplified that was Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder scored early on in the match, capitalizing on Daley Blind’s mistake to punish the Red Devils and set the tone for the rest of the match.
Nolito and Pep Guardiola
Manchester City have been brilliant to start the 2016-17 Barclays Premier League season, winning all six of their opening matches. Their 4-0 win against Bournemouth was nothing different and was another tactical masterclass. The only downside was that in a moment of madness, one of the stars of the season so far, Nolito, headbutted Adam Smith and was immediately sent off by the referee.
Vavau Tribe (Australian Survivor)
Phoebe Timmons made an incredible splash on Vavau beach, turning an alliance of six against themselves before blindsiding Craig l’Anson with the same immunity idol that he had found a clue for and was working desperately hard to find. As everybody else was absolutely shocked, all Craig could do was smile.
Unfortunately, Phoebe’s pre-merge splash wouldn’t go the distance, but she will be forever remembered in our hearts as one of the best and most entertaining Australian Survivor contestants ever.
Nicole and Paul were by far and away the two best Big Brother players inside of the BB18 house and an entertaining final few weeks of the season came to a close with Nicole Franzel being crowned the winner by a narrow 5-4 vote. After an incredible season of The Amazing Race Canada came to a close, Steph and Kristen were crowned the winners of the race. The dating couple became the first ever female-female team to win the Canadian version of the show, something that took seventeen seasons to happen in the US version and the first ever lesbian couple to win any season of Amazing Race around the world.
